The pandemic and into the future.
The pandemic saw a shift in many people's lives, none more so than musicians, many of whom have had to find alternate ways of making a living. For me it was almost fortuitous as it allowed me time to make recordings of my own music, in my own small but well equipped studio. I investigated new sound libraries, and have learned, or relearned the programs Logic and Dorico, to the benefit of my recordings and the appearance of my sheet music. I re-recorded many of my older works, which was a great experience to re-acquaint myself with my past endeavours.
From a performance standpoint, however things were not so good. I didn't conduct a concert in over 2 years, and when my choir did decide to perform again it was with a vastly depleted membership. Its numbers are beginning to swell now, which is encouraging, and the discovery of several publishers who have made new orchestrations of some of the larger choral works has been invaluable. Onwards and upwards!
